Sunnyside

This past Saturday Sarah and I were trying to decide what we wanted to do with our day. It was her birthday so it was her choice. We decided to visit a nearby town called Tarrytown, near Sleepy Hollow, NY. We first walked around the town, it was a nice little town with shops everywhere, we stopped in a few antique/crafty stores. Then we went to this Greek restaurant for lunch, where I had the king of all gyros…best gyro I ever tasted, definitely going back.

Afterwards we went down route 9 to Washington Irving’s house, Sunnyside. Irving of course is well known for “Legend of Sleepy Hollow” as well as “Rip Van Winkle”. We had seen a show about the house a while ago, and since we were so close we thought we’d check it out. We walked the grounds, and took a tour of the house, it was really nice and relaxing. Since we were so close by, we descided to become members, giving us free admission throughout the year. We can come back and picnic, or check out the different events. Also there are four of five other houses we can go visit included in our membership, so it seemed well worth it. Sunnyside is about 20 minutes from our house, so hopefully we will be able to visit throughout the summer. It is starting to warm up outside, it was great to be outside, enjoying walking the grounds and learning about a great American author.

Take a look at the pictures we took of our day! Sunnyside
